Ultimately, the connectedness that the festival created among our residents was one of our town’s key highlights of 2018.” "Our inaugural year represented the very best of Westfield - from celebrating one of our own historic icons as a community, to the enthusiastic participation of over 300 volunteers, to the collaboration between the police, fire, DPW professionals and the unpaid volunteers. As the inaugural AddamsFest was deemed a smashing success - despite a nor'easter - it was a no-brainer to expand for economic and community engagement benefits and become even kookier and spookier. His most well-known creation - ‘The Addams Family’ - was a satirical portrait of an eccentric, wealthy, modern family that grew from an assortment of 150 cartoons into a cult TV show, two movies, an animated series, video games, a Broadway musical and soon, an animated movie.įor Mayor Shelley Brindle, recognizing these ‘Addams Family’ roots initially was aimed at instilling a stronger sense of community pride. Born in Westfield in 1912, Addams became one of America’s greatest cartoonists.
